Net filter Firewall is a robust network firewall operating an inspection technology applied on both incoming and outgoing communication, and which helps provide the highest level of security possible, protecting your entire local area network.
It’s a Packet Filter Firewall that operates at the network level of the OSI model, or the IP layer of TCP/IP. Each packet is compared to a set of criteria before it is forwarded.
Depending on the packet and the criteria, the firewall can drop the packet, forward it or send a message to the originator.
Rules can include source and destination IP address, source and destination port number and protocol used.
Through Network Address Translation (NAT) this product also offers the advantages of hiding the IP addresses of computers behind the firewall and protects them from external access.
Functions
Packet inspection helps certain applications with proprietary protocols (not originally designed with firewall negotiation in mind) to be used securely in local area networks. Many protocols can be scanned, filtered or modified, thus increasing firewall restrictiveness and reporting capabilities.
Net filter will Store Http Responses in a cache and allow your DNS Server to respond more quickly to multiple queries for internet sites. Web page retrieval is speeded up, as the server queries its own database first.
With the Content filter installed in your Net filter firewall, your Net filter firewall can be turned into a content-filtering web gateway perfect for an organization, office or home . Access to inappropriate site whether they be pornagraphic or just not work-related will be denied automatically at the firewall.
